Lorraine's Story
Lorraine · 2026
I used to describe myself as fair, fat and over forty. Now I'm silver, saggy and over 60. So when my husband asked that I do a boudoir shoot, the polite version of my answer was NO.
I was scared, embarrassed, terrified the pictures would look false or terrible. I was so frightened I wouldn't stop shaking; that I wouldn't come out the changing room; or that I would feel part of a production line and have no say.
Stuart showed me Barrie's website - which convinced me to at least have a conversation. That led to an initial consultation where we talked to Barrie as a couple. The way he described the process was friendly and encouraging, not pushy. I was reassured when he said that any no is respected. Barrie even said that if he thought I was being pressurised by my husband, he'd lock him out of the shoot. It was to be MY day.
My fears allayed, we agreed a date.
During the shoot, he and Scotti - who did my make-up and hair - kept the atmosphere relaxed and we had a good laugh throughout. Despite my nerves, I felt at the centre of the process. Supported. Encouraged. Heard and accepted, not sidelined or forced to follow a set pattern. No meant NO - no quibble, no pushing.
He really does care that he gets the best out of you - but he won't ask you to cross any boundaries you have. And my husband was there for the whole time.
When we came to see the photographs, they looked like the best version of me. One I didn't know existed. One my husband said he knew was there. It was almost impossible to pick the best shots - so many of them were so spot on they didn't deserve to be left on the cutting room floor.
The quality of the books and portraits I ordered surpassed everything I had expected.
So would I recommend Barrie?
Definitely.
